Wm Theophilus was born Wm Tomlinson Brantley. Theophilus was a pen name and it was never seen before he in the Brantley. Wm T was the son of Wm Brantley and Mary Tomlinson. Wm (Sr) was son of John & Hannah Brantley. John was the son of Edward, of Phillip, of Edward Brantley, b ca 1617 in England. I question the Theophulis connection, but I would like to stay informed on the Calvit connection. The only place we find a Brantley Spires connection was in Halifax Co NC. These Brantleys were several generations removed from Wm Theophilus.
