I am afraid that Berry is a mystery to us. He is one of the few who we have not been able to idnetify. As you know, he has the only Brantley family in Randolph County in 1850 & 1860. I can't locate him afterwards. I did not know that Thomas was "James Thomas". This might help. My direct line came from Chatham county which borders Randolph. My initial guess is that he might be a descendant of these too, but I know little to support it. If I had more on the movements and marriages of his children, I might be able to help. Where did James Thomas live and die?
